Top 4 Things You Should do on Weekends to become successful leaders

WEEKENDS……

When you hear this word, what comes first in your mind???? Finally, a break from the drudgeries of the week?

It is true that weekend is one of the most important parts of our professional and personal life to get refreshed and take rest. But to be productive for an entire week, we need to use this two-day break in a most effective way. This is the best time to plan and organize yourself for both personal and professional life.

As a leader, you should use weekends to review what work you had done and what is pending and how you are going to do it. Try to find out errors which you had done, corrections, prepare a road map, find out best suitable ways to complete each task and gather information from others.

For this activity, weekends are the best days as you have less workload and distractions from others. You don’t require to spend your entire day for this. Just spend 1-2 hours on either day of weekend based on your convince to do this activity.

As a leader, your key job is to THINK and IMPLEMENT

To be a leader in your workplace you need to spend a considerable amount of time for thinking about your team, your company, your client and each person associated with you. You need to think what they need, why they need, how you can address it and all possible questions which is coming to you from your direct observation, from your interactions with them or from your prediction.
But during the weekdays, it becomes quite hard to think everything and sit to do analysis on them to find solutions for them. This is the reason why I always suggest that we should do this entire activity once a week on weekend. To do this you need to follow below simple yet effective steps:

1. Fix Time Slot

To start this activity which can help you to be the most effective leader, your first task is to book particular time slot from your weekend for around 60 minutes to 90 minutes during which you will just spend time on this review and planning activity. Make sure that during this time you are not getting any disturbance so you can be focused and work dedicatedly on the task. You can select either Saturday or Sunday for this activity. In some cases, people would like to do this on Friday evening or on Monday morning also which is fine. Let it be at your comfort. Even if you think that you can find an hour time during your weekdays for this activity where you will not get disturbance then you can do this activity during weekday too.

2. Prepare Data

Once you have fixed the time, now to start activity at the booked slot. First, you need to have the data which will make your life easy. Just think on each activity you are currently doing, which you need to do in future for your professional life & personal life, your goals, roles which you are into, responsibilities everything which comes in your mind. Just prepare a detailed list and put it on notepad or laptop or any other way but keep it on record. Once you are able to prepare this list, it will make your weekend review and planning activity more effective. As you will have clarity what you need to do and just you need to find a way how along with when.

3. Think and Plan

Now as you have all data with you, it will give you more clarity about your workload which will help you to plan things in proper way. First try to segregate things based on, things on which you are already working, things on which you need to start and things which are already complete or near to complete.
Once you have done this segregation, now you need to put clear dates for each activity on your calendar like if you need to start your sales training for the team then put it on calendar clearly that from 14th December 2017 at 11 AM you will start searching for the proper trainer, on 18th December 2017 you will confirm the trainer, from 19th December 2017 sales training will be started for the team. Once you do so it will give you entire road map with clear priorities.

4. Daily Review

Once you have put all above things in the proper way, your key task will start. From Monday, try to review on daily bases that what task you were supposed to do for the day and what you have done. Cross the things as it is completed by you. This will help you to be more focused and productive.
